The last few months of my life has been stressful. I attended to my ailing Dad who subsequently died a couple of weeks ago, attended to my demanding health business and how could I forget my wonderful and supportive family.
I found myself becoming tired and withdrawn, being pulled down as it were under the pressures of life. That's when I needed to pay attention to my self care or self love. I wanted to run away to that place in the picture and stay there.
Self care is often confused with selfish-ness. The two are entirely different. Self care is about self rejuvination and applying tender loving care to yourself. It is about spoiling yourself ever so often and stepping out of your responsibility and engaging in an activity just for you. The first thing I did the day after my Dad died, was have my hair done. Getting my hair done is absolutely therapeutic for me.
How do you know it's lacking? You feel it. You may be tired all the time, emotional eating may be taking place, no desire to exercise to not sleeping well. You probably thinking how you should fix this? Pretty much any way you choose. Here are some suggestions.
* Body massage.
* A weekend get away.
* A movie.
* An evening out with friends.
* A good book.
* An early night.
All of this to say, if you are not taking good care of yourself, you and your health can fall apart. If it's necessary for me, the same applies to you.Take time out for you.

I can't believe it! The last time I posted on my blog page was in 2011. Time does fly fast and before you know it another year has passed us by. I have to do a better job at keeping up. I dont know about you but keeping up is sometimes a job in itself.
Managing time is such an issue for many. So many things to do, so little time to do it as they say and that goes for me as well. During my Nutrtional Health consultations, is the question of exercise and almost all my clients come up with the same excuse. Not enough time.
There are 24 hours in each day. Eight of those hours should be spent asleep, another 8-10 working. How are the remaining hours accounted for? How much is wasted on t.v. watching or conversation that does not benefit our well being? I am just saying that maybe we can carve 30 minutes out of our day for much needed exercise.
That gets me thinking about my blog and posts. What have I been doing for a whole year that I could not find the time to share with you? For one, I have been exercising. I increased my workouts to include muscle building and strength training. I have also started a Health Coaching program to improve my services to you. I became a Certified Life Coach and expanded services in my business.
What ever you do with your time make sure it counts for something. Make sure you utilize it well and you can look back and see it well spent. Time lost, wasted or spent can never be regained. Time management still remains a stressful thing for many. Use your time well. Live without regret but most importantly.....live.
I posted this on facebook only this week and I wanted to share this with you. I gave myself a challenge in January, the start of the year, that I would begin an exercise program and for the rest of the year work on my physique to get my body in better condition.
I coach clients everyday into taking better care of their health after all you only have one life to live. I am on the nineth week ok my workout. I have lost one pant size and my arms are actually beginning to look like Michelle Obama's arms! Incredible. For me anyway.
I just got tired telling clients to exercise and not creating the time for me. Now, I insist on the time for me. I have one year to create a Beach Body. Hint, hint.
So what challenge do you need help with? When was the last time you have challenged yourself to do something that you have been utting off. Be honest. Are you not worth it? Who is willing to join me and my friends who have decided that they are just fed-up with the way they feel and look.

It is truly amazing to me how quickly a new year comes around. I was thinking it was just the other day I posted. Low and behold, the last time was November. So many things have gone trough my mind since then mainly all business and where I want to be both personally and professionally.
My journey in this new year has started and already I have seen some challenges or rather instances to attain growth. But I plod on. My attitude has changed from last year to this year. I am inclined to be more patient with those around me. Everyone is not going to be like me and vice-versa.
I have already set my intentions and I conyinue to encourage every person I meet to do the same. My message is simple to all. Take care of yourself. If you have begun this year fustrated or tired or even sick, take a time out re-evalute and put you first. Eat right, exercise, sleep well or you may not finish this year on a good note. If your start the year feeling shourt winded then you will finish the race totally out of breath. Dont know how to do that? My advice to you is ask. Ask for help if you need it. Work on not making the same mistakes of the last year. Do something new or different.
Get rid of relationships that stress or offer you nothing, change your diet, move around more, look for that new job you have always wanted ( if you can) and help someone achieve their goals. Most of all fill your life with joy where ever possible. Love yourself. LOve all
Paying attention to self is certainly a practice I would like to develop on a long term basis. funny thing to say I know but today I became very aware of myself and it was eye-opening.
I have been feeling drained for most of this week and I just could not understand why. I finally found out why.
I have been extending myself to the point that it was taking a toll I was not willing to pay not this year anyway. Yes, it happens every year. Holiday anxiety. Have you heard of it? Every year around this time I get very anxious and overwelmed, I ignore it and then I get sick. I started paying attention last year and this year sealed it for me, I felt it coming on again.
So here are some tips I came up with to regain control.
1. Get focused. Write down every thing you would like to do and stay with the plan. If unplanned things arise, prioritize.
2. Find a way to switch off. Disconnect and find time for your self to regroup.
3. When you do feel the stress rising, take a step back and re-access your focus. Go back to your list.
4. Find time to exercise. This will help to keep you relaxed and increase your energy to get all your chores done.

Don't give up.
That has been my mantra for the last ten years of my life. I imagine so much more for my life and the funny thing is, its happening. i love sharing and telling others about myself and my experiences. I can't help it that is just the way I was born. It took a long time to recognize it though but I hope it does not take you as long as it di me. Don't waste a moment, not one. We are so afraid of life experiences that we stay cowering instead of trying take the journey to pass it on.
We kill our dreams in the process. I have been through alot. Divorced, single parenthood, started and failed at business and started again, abandoned, hurt, threatened but I never gave up because I never lost sight of the sky. I refuse to part with my experiences. They are for you to draw from. So ask me, inquire of me and I will tell you. If you will list
I often ask myself what it will take some people to make the changes necessary to move themselves forward in life. I cannot leave myself out because I too have experienced this slow move to action. For me it was almost impossible to move myself forward. It was not until I experienced coaching did I see how easy, just by shifting my under lying beliefs, change was possible. oaching brings to life the thoughts and feelings often ignored or un-explored. I didnt realize I had the answers in me. I learned to cut myself some slack. Give yourself a break, if you need help ask for it. The really is no reason to stay in a place of inaction when you can release buried fears and let the light in. The light of knowing you can.....in your own self. Trust me you have the answers within yourself as well.
Have you ever been to th ecircus and seen the mirrors that are displayed? Maybe you have looked into one yourself and seen the distorted yet funny image you reflected.
But that's it, it is only a reflection. But too often many of us come away believing that is what we really look like and we form this a truth in our minds.I talk about these mirrors as I reflect on a conversation I had with someone I met today for the first time. It was this individual that talked about looking at himself in a glass such as this. It got me thinking that too often we have untrue perceptions of who we are. We take on others peopls view of who we are and hold on to them. Those circus mirrors were designed for you to have a fun look at yourself but some how we walk away with a skewed image that translates into behaviours that dont support our truths and values.

First of all I would really like to apologize to those who follow my blog for not having any post for the last month. But as I continue to write you will understand why there was a problem.
Today I gave myself permission to succeed and after I wrote it down, I was amazed I had to give myself permission to do that. But it made me think about many others out there who don't succeed or be happy or take chances for that matter because they dont walk in the moment or give themselves the permission to do so.
This was an aha moment for me. Success is something I want to experience in the true sense of the word in every sphere of my life. Health, wellness, marriage. I challenge you today and ask you " What do you need to give yourself permission to do?" and if you did what do you think would happen? I am willing to discover. I am excited to see the outcome.
I empowered three people today.One of them is my friend who recently started her own business.It has not been easy for her, it has been like jumping out of a plane with a parachute on your back and wondering afterwards if you did the right thing.But the view.
I know marketing herself has been her biggest challenge but I encourage her to take the step out.How else will she know her parachute can open.I love reaching for your dream, the climb is the most interesting.The higher you climb the air gets thinner but the good part it pushes the thoughts of the impossible out of your mind and you notice view.She set up her email address today and she felt empowered. my dream...to see her achieve her goals and watch her limitations disappear.
